Best salad bar around! This review is mainly for the salad bar although the Produce Station is a very high quality produce shop they are very high priced so I tend to get produce elsewhere. They do have fresh baked Zingerman's bread which I buy! YUM! The salad bar is amazing! All the typical options plus side salads like asian noodles, etc. The soups are delicious! The ingredients are super fresh and I just love it! Seasonally they have plants and landscape decor. I always shop there at the end of the season because, again, they have fantastic plants and pots but super high priced. So, I get the sale items and they all do wonderfully in my landscape!

Visiting with my grandma for a while and she wanted to go to produce station. We just went to kroger two days ago so I assumed it was something specific she wanted. We walk up to a tight entry which was slightly difficult to maneuver with my slow walking grandma who would block the way of people walking by. They had fresh fruit outside and wonderful looking plants. Parking lot is a little tight as well so I suggest not going during rush hour times with a big vehicle. There were many fresh local fruits and veggies. A lot of local products which is good to see though somewhat more expensive than the general brands but they do deliver with the flavors you get. I tried out the salad from the salad bar and my grandma got some sesame noodles from the salad bar. I loved the buttermilk salad dressing which was different than your typical ranch. We also got a Zingermans baguette since it was their only bread close to french bread but was good to see since we love Zingermans.

Products are a bit pricy for me, but I still like go there once in a while and get local stuff. Products are fresh and nicely displayed. I like that they offer many samples!

I'm so glad that Ann Arbor has Produce Station. It's a hybrid of so many wonderful things--the high-quality food you see at Whole Foods, the local stuff you see at Hiller's, the salad bar you dream of, and bulk food of a mini By The Pound. It's not a cheap place, but it's a fun and beautiful place. They have all sorts of exciting vegetables here. Sometimes I'll come by and see something I've never seen--like in-the-pod garbanzo beans. Sometimes I'll come here and admire their sushi-grade fish, or I'll treat myself to a homemade granola bar. Their sweet potato burritos are insanely good. You can also get some stuff by the pound, and if they've prepackaged more than you want, you can ask them for less. Zingerman's baked goods, local ice cream, lots of cheese. It's just, again, not a cheap place.

back in california, especially in the bay area, it's still relatively common to find independent grocers, and these places usually have awesome produce. fruits at these places tend to be beautiful, abundant, and delicious, and they're often fairly cheap and come from local (or at least reasonably local) farms. they're almost like the cornucopia of food stores. i thought the produce station would be like one of those stores, but instead it's just kinda meh. there're decent produce here, but really no different or better than the chain grocery stores. some of them are reasonably priced, but most are quite overpriced and for seemingly no good reason. in terms of quality and variety, their fruits aren't necessarily better than any other place either. the prepared foods do look pretty good, altho i haven't tried them yet. i have had catered food from here; it was decent but can be a bit, er, unusual. they also have a bunch of stuff that you'd find in fancy grocery stores as well as wine. i came here regularly for a short while and never felt compelled to anymore unless if i lived walking distance. overall it's not cheap to shop here and, while it's a cute-looking place, the products aren't that great especially for the price.

Love this place. Great selection and quality produce and cheeses, and very friendly staff. My only gripe is that it seems a bit expensive, but nothing crazy.

I love the Produce Station! Definitely not a place to go "grocery" shopping, but more someplace to buy something special: specialty pastas, sauces, and unusual produce. Their produce is what it's all about--not only do they have harder-to-find items like truffles, nettles, and fiddlehead ferns, but all the more typical items are always tasty and fresh. I also like their salad bar--it has a good selection and is at least 2 dollars a lb less than anywhere else worth trying in town.

If you can imagine a small, local version of Whole Foods, with just as much variety, and probably more flavor per square foot, then you might be getting close to picturing The Produce Station. I live 500 miles away, and still follow its facebook feed to see what fruits and vegetables are in season, and what's new in the store. The only con I can think of is that pushing a cart is like riding a bumper car. Otherwise, it's an amusement park for the taste buds, my favorite part being the hot bar - salad bar. For me, a really good Ann Arbor trip includes at least one visit to the Produce Station.

For the most part I don't particularly care for the Produce Station's general/staples produce...but I DO appreciate the stocking of unusual, seasonal vegetables (such as Ramps, heirloom potatoes, etc.) so if you are looking for this sort of produce you will likely find it, or they will order you some if you need a large-enough quantity (case or more). I really like PS's salad bar, salads, and refrigerated entrees: reasonably priced, feed 2-3 people, and are very tasty for ready-made. Their catering selections are good as well, high-quality, nice presentation. I cannot stand the claustrophobia of the interior - and unfortunately PS can attract some real "gems" of the local community: rude, entitled, rushed, and prone to bashing their almost-empty cart repeatedly into your back if you do not "give right-of-way to his/her Majesty" fast enough. My remedy is to go at on off-hours/off days...Tuesday during the day (NOT lunchtime) is a favorite of mine if I can swing it. Staff are very, very nice.

This is my favorite place for everything--pasta, dessert, wine, meat, and of course produce. They carry a great supply of local products!

Produce Station enhances the quality of my life. Lovely prepared foods and a very nice selection of produce and specialty items. It's expensive, but I would not say it is overpriced. If it did not lighten my wallet so, it would get five stars. The difference between this place and a Whole Foods (three stars) is that here you feel and taste the love. It's got soul. Its only other weakness aside from the price point is that it used to suffer from a lack of varied and extensive meat selections. That problem is solved now, though. The addition of Biercamp has turned this dusty ol' stretch of concrete and train track into quite the culinary agglomeration. The two together are more than the sum of their parts.

Really the Best produce and freshest meat and fish you'll find - not the biggest selection - but the best. We just had them cater for us this week - and it was incredibly well put together - food was excellent and we will definitely use again!

This is a beautiful small market that's bursting at the seams with fresh produce, yummy prepared sandwiches, and live plants. Warning: Very expensive! The guy in line in front of me today spent over $10 for a small salad from their salad bar. The cashier said that they drive to the market in Detroit everyday to get their fresh produce. The fresh produce is great, but their gas expenses are definitely reflected in their prices. Wish they would buy from Ann Arbor sources.

My favorite place to shop for prepared foods as well as fresh produce and bread. The only drawback is the small space so if you are one that doesn't love your neighbor then wait to shop off hours otherwise you will be rubbing up against someone. I highly recommend the soups and the walnut/cranberry/chicken salad. Yum. Also the breads are amazing as well as the outdoor plant selection. One other note, the Produce Station has increased their wine selection I believe to compete with Plum Market and Whole Foods. Don't bring your AmEx card as they only accept MC/Visa.

I typically only get lunch at the salad bar, which is top notch. But in the spring time (insert approving yumming noise)...The healthest plants and a hearty selection of them! And you can find the unique items you don't find at the regular grocery store - - Minnesota wild rice, sherry vinegar, fresh mozzarella, house-made granola, small batch potato chips. I'm sorry that they don't carry Quark anymore, but I understand there's not a huge demand for it (Greek yogurt is an ok substitute). In the summer time they grill lunch outside. Recently I had the pulled pork sandwich with apple slaw and (housemade??) delicious, crunchy potato chips. It was to die for. The staff is always cheerful, friendly and helpful.

I enjoy walking over from working at Ann Arbor Market Center Keller Williams to get a packaged lunch of fresh salmon, salad, fresh fruit in bite size pieces with cottage cheese for $8.00. A gourmet treat in a jif. Of curse I love to grab a croissant for breakfast and pick up some fresh vegetables that are always arranged like eye candy. I found fiddleheads - ferns - and look forward to cooking those up tonight. If you want ordinary go to Kroger; if you want special, come here.

What a great place! I'm pretty sure that is what I was thinking the first time I left the Produce Station. Of course there are loads of produce to choose from at all times of the year. And spring has load of new plants for your garden. But the thing that gets me is the salad bar and the warm food section. They really do have one of the better salad bars around, with homemade dressings. One look at the Thousand Island will prove that. Every day two soups are featured as well as two main dishes. Tuesdays are always Taco Tuesdays, while Thursdays are always the Baby back ribs. But if that does not thrill you, they have loads of meals in the back that are heat n eat. Even Sheppards Pie and Quiche. If I could I would go there each and every day. Oh and I should mention the staff are really nice and willing to help you at a moments notice.

Catered a birthday party. Food was packaged perfectly for pick up. The guests loved the food. The antipasti plate was a huge hit and beautiful. Don helped with the planning and was right on. We will use them again.

By far, a significant portion of the credit for our wildly successful recent wedding reception is due to the culinary creativity and solicitous staff of the Produce Station led by Catering Director, Donnie Burton. Throughout the planning process Donnie offered advice, suggestions and options to ensure we met both our intended objective (outstanding, unique French-themed dinner) as well as our budget considerations. Everything about the meal from set up, to service, to presentation and taste, as well as clean up/tear down far exceeded our expectations! Our guests were thoroughly impressed; the meal was so well received we have been asked many times over to share contact information for The Produce Station which we are only too happy to do. Without a doubt, if we were to host a special event again, we would reach out to Donnie with full confidence that he would understand what we want and deliver another memorable and outstanding dining experience! In addition to traditional catering responsibilities, Donnie and his staff also expertly assumed responsibility for much of the coordination and work involved in dressing the venue and then tearing down at the end of the evening. This allowed us to fully enjoy the evening and our guests without worry! 5 stars don't seem adequate for our experience!

One of the most expensive fruit markets I've ever been to. $5.99 for a pint of strawberries are you kidding me? I will NEVER shop at this place again....if you can take the 20 mile drive to Randazzo's in Westland.

I really like Produce Station's prepared foods and salad bar. It's not cheap, but it's high quality food from a local business and I like that. I am weird about salad bars, and this place is top notch in the sense that it's all properly prepared to bite sized and I have yet to see a funky, rotten piece of veggie. It is amazing how much they fit in a small space. In the warm months I enjoy seeing the flowers and plants they have outside for sale.

I adore Produce Station and I wish I could give it more than four stars. I had to leave one off because the interior is so cramped that if more than four people are in the store at a time it gets kinda hairy. Other than that, I really enjoy my visits here. The produce is fresh and varied, and they have seasonal items (like ramps!) throughout the year. I also get many of my garden plants here in the spring/summer, and they've always been hearty plants that last. I like the little entry area that is filled with various drinks, sodas, crackers, and cookies. They also have a fantastic selection of cheeses, many of them locally made. The employees are friendly and very helpful. The prices are what you'd expect for a gourmet food store, but still affordable. The produce is definitely well-priced and the gourmet items are no more expensive than what you'd pay at Plum Market or Whole Foods.

The Produce Station is my favorite place to run down and grab a salad at lunch. It is just a few seconds away from my office at Keller Williams on State Street. Of course I can't help but pick up a few flowers and fresh bread there. I took my daughter the other day, as she was helping me out with some marketing. She said, "how come I never heard about this place?" Try the homemade Thousand Island Dressing, I bring it home with me. It is the best I have ever tried.

Produce Station definitely has the best produce in town, but you certainly pay for it. They also have good plants for your garden in the spring. My summertime favorite is their $8 lunches from the grill. Look for the guy standing next to a big silver grill out front. I've eaten probably a half dozen lunches there over the past couple months and they've all been very good. Most of them are served on either a bun of some kind, or a bed of greens if you're into vegetables and such. Also, any prepared food with a red star on it is 50% off, usually because it's the last day they're selling it. I buy the half-off foods often, and they've always been quite tasty, though you should probably eat them the same day.

We Chose The Produce Station to Cater our Wedding in Ann Arbor. From the moment we met Donnie Burton, we knew we were placing one the most important aspects of our day in great hands. He introduced us to his Chef as well as the most friendly staff of professionals. Donnie's imagination and knowledge of fine dining is incredible. He made suggestions and took our input and made three amazing meals, unique to us and the fall season (Oct 22 Wedding). The appetizers and salad were also second to none. Overall, a 90 minute meal, was to us the culmination of a year of planning, but a lifetime of preparation by a Master Chef. The service staff was as perfect as our meals. Thanks to you Donnie and you staff for giving a Bride and Groom the most special first dinner together we could have ever imagined. You started as our caterer and have become our close friend.

It's all in the title and it's an excellent produce station at that. Always a great place to get fresh seasonal produce.

I love the Produce Station because I know I can get good-quality fresh produce all year round. I can have a watermelon in the winter, if I want. I also know that I could do all my shopping here if I wanted to drop a lot of money. You can get good cheeses here, some wine or beer, pre-packaged foods (my favorite is the chocolate almond truffle). They have selections of gourmet pastas, sauces, sardines in pretty cans, Fage (a healthy yogurt substitute for sour cream and tastes exactly like it) and they sell Hour (a Detroit publication) at the check-out lane. Near the check-out lane is Zingerman's bread if you want it. You can grab a bite at the salad bar if you want. The best part is the fresh fruit, if you ask me. They have outdoor seating among their plants for sale.

Best produce in town! They carry the best of everything favs are noosa yogart, prepared sandwiches and thai noodle salad. Great selection of plants and flowers the most hardy mums I've ever had. Love this place!!

  • Clarence C.

The produce is fresher and better looking than what they have at your grocery store. It's stacked more carefully--some places, you see them just dump fruit from the box, and you know it's getting bruised. Pricy, but I think the quality justifies it. They also have prepackaged foods and a salad bar, but be prepared to spend as much as you would to dine out. There are dairy products, meats and a bakery section that includes Zingerman's bread. I usually don't buy any of those things at the Produce Station, because I know I can shop for them elsewhere, probably with a better selection and lower prices. Important tip: The Produce Station is the best place to use the restroom when you have been shopping at the Salvation Army next door.

I judge markets by their hot bar. It's lame but true. And by how much Izzie's cost. 4 pack of Izzies are still around $4.99 here, and the hot bar is only OK, but I forgive them because of the reasons mentioned below. This is one of my favorite markets in Ann Arbor. It's small, fresh, with a careful selection of gourmet and fresh ingredients. The produce is probably their crown jewel. Clearly waxed and washed within an inch of its life, the produce is carefully stacked, and frankly fruit just tastes better when its pretty. A decent selection of nuts and cheeses as well. A delicious salad bar and excellent pre-made sandwiches. While they do carry some organic food, it's not completely organic, so read labels. I can also get some of my favorite pre-packaged organic foods here for a smidgen less than at Whole Foods. Zingermann's bread, Calder's Dairy milk, and Ann Arbor Tortilla Factory chips make shopping local a lot easier. Downside? No specials or sales, but frankly you're paying more for the same brands elsewhere so who cares.

I Love, Love, Love Produce Staion I just wish they were closer to me! The only thing I would change is make the building about 5X BIGGER! They are such a good example of people with a passion doing what they love really well! I know If I am looking for any kind of produce if they don't have no one else in Ann Arbor does.

  • K S.

What you get here is only the best: no big name-brand products, just really great imports and well-chosen produce. A look at the bread counter is an example of their "best of everything" strategy: Zingerman's bread, Pastry Peddler croissants, some house-made cookies. I thought the cheese selection was a little boring compared to Zingermann's, but good produce and miscellaneous fun things to stock the pantry.

Like the produce accompaniment to Trader Joe's, Produce Station is small and cramped and has that small-market feel that big stores just can't do well. I have only visited a couple of times but have been delighted with each visit. Most recently I picked up a dinner-to-cook, including chicken scallopini, some baking potatoes, the making of a salad, and some very fresh corn. Since the place is small, it doesn't have to be held accountable for having everything in stock, and the benefit is that what's there is absolutely perfect in terms of aesthetics and freshness. Expect to pay a premium for these delicious treats. It's open all winter, too.

I don't do grocery shopping anywhere else...the produce station has an amazing selection of fresh produce, meats, breads, and pre-made meals. The soups change daily and are never disappointing - I highly reccomend the chicken wild rice. The salad bar is wonderful with a huge selection of toppings and pre-made pasta and potato salads. The orzo with feta is one of my favorites as well as the traditional chicken salad. My secret indulgence are their freshly baked scones. They are super buttery, flakey, and downright delicious. I do wish they would increase their wine and beer selection...

  • Coco C.

I love me some fruits and vegetables. Produce Station provides both, at pretty decent prices. They also sell ZIngerman's bread (only buy the monthly special, dudes!), and honor the little frequent buyer cards, if you're a big huge nerd like me. They have awesome pre-made spring mix, which lasts a good week and is always tasty (Rotty spring mix is the bane of my existence...). The one bad thing is that the store itself is so freaking tiny that using a cart is laughable.

I drive by Produce Station twice a day (to and from work), and never have stopped because...well I live up the street from the Farmers Market, and I thought they were nothing more than an Ann Arbor Farmers Market II. As a relatively poor, aspiring wine connoisseur, the large signs out front boasting a "huge wine sale" lured me in last week in between pay periods--I got three great bottles of wine for $25! While being slightly disappointed that the night before I had done the week's grocery shopping, my internal foodie forced me to walk around and browse their offerings, and was very impressed at that! As I perused I couldn't help but think that despite the fact that their bakery stocks Zingerman's products, they may very well be some competition for them! Next time I'm headed home from work, thinking about how I'm too tired to make dinner, I will certainly stop in here and put together a salad and grab something of their hot food bar. Or if I'm feeling particularly creative, I'll stop and grab one of their hard to find items and give myself a little "Iron Chef" challenge in the kitchen!

  • Mae S.

Best produce in town, local where it can be local. Olives, salsas, guacamole, bulk nuts and candy, intriguing salad bar. Olive oil, a few groceries, if you can't find it ask... Incredibly crowded aisles so you tend to talk to other customers. Zingerman's and other good breads at bread counter. Huge outdoor flower market that's worth walking through even if you don't want to buy flowers. Car to car combat over parking in the small end of the lot. Easy parking if you are willing to walk three more car-lengths. Add it all up: it's a unique experience.

Discovering this place saved me from wasting needed research time cooking. They have delicious, sophisticated, and not too unhealthy premade meals (like leftovers from visiting your parents). They are expensive, but the time I saved shopping for ingredients, prepping food, cooking, cleaning, etc. makes it well worth it. For this alone I would give them five stars. Although I wish they used recyclable containers for the food. Recently they have shifted the focus of their meal selections to less healthy and (in my opinion) less delicious options; I rarely find something I want these days. In addition to the meals the produce there is generally very good, although it is not local produce as the small-market atmosphere would have you believe. Don't be fooled. They also have great salsas, bean dips, European yogurts, asian herbs (sometimes), any kind of rice you can imagine, ..., and cut up fruit bowls (including my daily intake of MANGO when in season). The people who work there are great and have gone out of their way to get me what I want (like freshly cutting up a few mangoes for me because they had run out) and making really excellent suggestions. It's too bad that they carry that hard-as (and tasty-as) a brick Zingerman's bread which seems to come out of their oven already three days old. Some nice breads and rolls would really round out this great place. Also great for stopping off for lunch to get a salad, sandwich, soups, etc. and eat it in their little "cafe" area outside (but under cover) when the temperature permits. Update 12/30/07: I wanted a few things from here today so I checked their website for their hours: "7:00PM" it says. I arrived at 6:10PM and found that an ad hoc sign had been put up to say they closed at 6:00 today. I went inside anyway and talked to one of my favorite employees. He informed me that because the store had been slow the boss decided to close it down early. I've got to say that that boss is a complete moron; even if the store loses a little money you have to stay open in order not to piss the customers off. Every not-retarded manager knows that. And I wasn't the only person to who wanted to buy things there after 6:00, Another guy came in as I was leaving and another car was pulling in when I was pulling out. Clearly that boss made a mistake...and now he will pay. I really can't see any reason for me to go there again, most of their stuff I can get elsewhere and it's not worth driving extra just to find out that they closed early because the man in charge has a room temperature IQ or that they are out of the items I want. I've had good experiences in the past, but more bad ones than good ones in the past several months.

Pre-TJ's, this was THE place for great food at good prices. Plus their takeout/salad bar is kick-ass! Check it out for produce (obviously) and you'll be surprised and happy with the rest of the gems you find....

So far I really like this Market! I absolutely love their wide variety of Fresh produce. My absolute favorite is their "Roma Tomato & Imported Double Cream Brie Sandwich!!" Their customer service has been consistently pleasant. In fact, during my very first visit with my husband, one of the store clerks actually suggested that I try the Double Cream Brie Sandwich. I'm glad that I did! I will be returning not just for the food, but because I felt so welcomed!

What a great little produce store! Tucked over the train tracks and across from the golf course, it's a wonderful little store filled with all top quality produce and dairy, select wines, homemade salads and sandwiches, and a little bit of grocery items. You'll want to walk ever little aisle and look up and down at all of the great products. This place should be proud on how they distinguish themselves from all of the big places by simply doing what they do really, really well!

This place has a lot of local stuff, and they have a great staff! Ex Village Corner Wine Snoid Jorge is running the wine department there now, and the selection is outstanding. I love the location; I can stop by on my way to work if I'm coming down state, and I have never had trouble parking there, despite the small parking lot. I definitely dig their pre-pack sandwiches.

Taking a moment to update my review to give props to the Produce Station for their awesome gardening selection. They have like 6 different types of basil, 5 different types of rosemary (I didn't even KNOW there was more than one type of rosemary), loads of delicious lettuces, tomato plants, and more. Plus some really lovely annuals and perennials that were very impressive. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. I'm definitely a novice when it comes to gardening and had a few questions about some of the plants and they were more than patient and didn't talk down to me. Definitely didn't make me feel like a moron or anything! The prices here are higher than where I usually go to buy my plants (Block's in Romulus) but they have some really lovely and unique selections that just aren't found any other place in the area. So to me they're worth the splurge to round out my yard a bit with all these special items. It helps round out the garden and makes it delicious and beautiful to boot!

It's been ages since I've been to produce station... in fact, it's been over five years and since then they have undergone a lot of changes inside.... the prices are reasonable with Whole Foods... on today's visit, they had free wine tasting :) They have extensive prepared food offerings, the salad bar looks great and the cheese offering also looks great as well... I guess I have been neglecting this place too long... I need to visit here more often... along with Biercamp :)

The Produce Station is serious about food. if you're looking for an innocuous squash or a sumptuous, wholesome pre-made sammy or side-dish for a party, the Produce Station is your place, but be prepared to drop some serious dinero. For a student like myself, the Produce Station is a place to hit when I'm looking for a specialty item or a healthy, filling meal on the go. STRENGTHS: seriously every fruit or veggie you could want, an AMAZING cheese section, fresh bread counter with all the Zingerman's hits, and a big Red Mill section for grainy basics. There's also a really good, reasonably riced wine section and the staff is always willing to help with flavor profiles.

The Produce Station catered our vegetarian wedding in the woods, and even for the most staunch carnivores in attendance, the food was an enormous hit. The catering crew went the extra mile to hang candles from fenceposts instead of just lighting votives on the ground (which was our initial plan)--their added touch made the whole thing that much more beautiful. They helped us so much throughout the process to keep our costs low, and they made sure the day ran smoothly. The tent we got through them was very nice, the food was incredible, and I can't recommend them highly enough if you need a caterer. Donnie is the man. The actual store has been a longtime favorite of ours, and we will most definitely be returning.

Fancy little place with fresh fruits and veggies, but you pay for it. The prices seem a little high to me, but I'm not one to usually visit such places. Its got the farmer's market feel with the Whole Foods prices. I'll stick to Kroger or similar places.

  • MC S.

Just moved to A2 and was at the Produce Station looking for some local produce and plants. The percentage of the "local" product is not great at all, and the general price is much higher than nearby Trade Joe's if I don't care for the "local" part. There are some good selections of herb plants though. I found the licorice basil, which is not as common. Good place to check out some herbs unique and hard to find, but not good at all for daily grocery need.

Five years, FIVE YEARS I've lived in Ann Arbor and have frequented PS's neighboring Salvation Army dozens of times and for all this time I thought the Produce Station was nothing but a nursery with maybe a couple of baskets of farmer's market fruits and veggies. Man am I an idiot. Today I finally sauntered into the area with the awning that says 'cafe' and instead what I found was a full-fledged grocery store with a salad bar, lots of artisanal pre-made sandwiches, meats, cheeses, pre-made lunches and dinners inspired by various countries, imported sweets from Germany and elsewhere, fruits, veggies, fancy juices, and Zingermann's breads. I am eyeing the $13 pint of goat cheese cherry gelato - maybe one day I will be able to cough up the money for that puppy. What a haven for hippie-dippy-yuppies, explorative-foodies, and health-food-lovers. The prices seem about at the Whole Foods level but slightly under the People's Food Co-op but to be honest the only thing I purchased was a single banana (and it was good!). Workers seem friendly. Atmosphere is pretty mellow. And the produce does, in fact, seem to warrant the business's name as it is plentiful and fresh.

Increasingly, I am trying to do all my shopping for food to make for meals at Produce Station. They have spectacular local produce--produce I find more flavorful and fresher than Whole Foods and others. I fill my cart with their amazing fruits and vegetables, pick up some cheese from their excellent cheeses and dairy products, select from their collection of grains and pastas, perhaps pick up some fresh meat or chicken or loaf of Zingerman's or Avalon bread--and know that I am getting superb quality and freshness. They don't sell any overly processed stuff, so don't have to pass over junk to get to the gold. They also now have a terrific wine selection--more eclectic and with a larger selection of excellent less expensive wines than Morgan and York and I increasingly rely on Jorge's outstanding judgment of the best wines to select for a case (10% off if get a case). They also have the best prepared food and salad bar in Ann Arbor--we pretty much get their whipped sweet potatoes, turkey meatballs, and sesame noodle salad every week, along with other delicacies. The selection of fresh cut flowers is far more limited than Whole Foods, so still rely on Whole Foods for those. And non-food needs of course require trips to Hillers or Busch's. Overall though Produce Station is a gem and by far our family's favorite store to buy most of our food and drink needs.

We pass through A2 frequently and enjoy stopping at the Produce Station when possible. Yesterday we arrived a bit after 2 and Chef John was already putting his grill away. Instead he made us two seared tuna sandwiches that were spectacular. It made eating outside in the garden even more enjoyable than usual. Worth a try if you prefer high quality over low price.

Neat place! Like others have said, the parking leaves something to be desired. They have a wonderful wine selection and their premade foods (sandwiches, salads, etc) are phenomenal. I appreciate how they have something that meets everyone's taste (vegetarian, vegan, carnivore's, etc). They also have a very nice meat selection (already prepared, just needs be baked, grilled, etc). Their breads/bakery are outstanding! They have a very nice wine selection. The produce is expensive, but given a lot of it is organic/specialty, it is to be expected! A few years ago I ordered two valentines day dinners from the Produce Station and they were excellent (especially the chocolate mouse)! The staff are always extremely nice and willing to help! I don't go there often, only because I would spend way too much money!!!

This place is a gem. I love the produce, but even more, I love the people I encounter there. Sometimes I'm hesitant to visit a specialty food store because I don't know what I'm getting myself into, but I found it easy to fit in, and one staff made a point to invite me to come back more often. I realize being invited to return your business should be nothing new or noteworthy, but I've actually been underwhelmed by experiences with some other management teams out there, and I appreciate how... well... appreciated Produce Station makes me feel. Makes me want to keep on supporting this local shop. Bonus, their catering is AMAZING and so much more reasonably priced than I would have expected. Cheaper than cooking for a crowd, and they can do everything from a small backyard party to a company picnic.

So many flowers, herbs and veggies to choose from! I found a pablano pepper and hungarian wax pepper plant. Inside is a cute market which sells local milk in glass containers, cheeses...A huge salad bar and sandwiches and meals to go. They even had a handful of soups and fresh scones and bread. I even found Thai Ginger Chicken.

Along with all of the incredible produce and grocery items I have to write this review to give a shout out to the macaroons - WOW they are so delicious! I bought 3 this morning, intending to share and 4 hours later, I'm two macaroons down and I don't foresee giving the third one up! The purchased the lemon and 2 bourbon pecan (with Maker's Mark!). The flavor isn't too sweet and the texture hits the spot. YUM, I might stop by on my way home from work to get more :)

I love this place but parking is crap. Other than that, their prices have gotten a little better. Amazing selection of prepped foods, specialty or gourment everything, best produce I have found, and yes they have wine. Consistantly high quality. Love it.
